G20 first guiding principles for AI use
(VOVWORLD) -Ministers in charge of trade and digital economy from the Group of 20 major economies on Saturday in Tsukuba, Japan, issued a joint statement on guiding principles for responsible use of artificial intelligence.
This is the first time the ministers agreed on the AI principles.
The Ministers also agreed that besides the great benefits that AI brings to society, it is necessary to avoid risks. They vowed to promote data circulation freely across national borders. At the same time, based on the proposal of Japan, ministers jointly proposed a rule of data transmission, in which data must be "freely circulated with confidence" in the term "Data Free Flow with Trust" (DFFT).
On Friday, the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of the World's Leading Emerging Economies and Economies (G20) in Fukuoka, Japan, agreed on the importance of establishing a global system to tax giant Internet firms like Google or Facebook. However, countries still disagree on enforcement methods.
