German Ambassador to Vietnam, Dr. Guido Hildner, said in a press release that he is happy about the arrival of the shipment, affirming that Germany stands side by side with Vietnam in the COVID-19 fight.

"We can only defeat the pandemic if it is brought under control everywhere. Therefore, Germany and the European Union support the COVAX vaccination campaign for fair and transparent access to COVID-19 vaccines worldwide,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Dr. Kidong Park, WHO Representative in Vietnam, thanked the German government and people for the vaccine delivery, and voiced his support for Vietnam’s ongoing vaccination campaign, with priority given to frontline forces, including healthcare workers, the elderly, people with underlying health issues, and those at highest risk of severe diseases or deaths.

Vietnam has so far received more than 12.5 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines via the COVAX Facility. The COVAX Facility is co-led by WHO, CEPI, GAVI, and UNICEF as a key delivery partner.
