Global Human Development Report 2014 introduced in Hanoi

(VOVworld) – The Global Human Development Report 2014 was revealed in Hanoi on Thursday. The report said Vietnam, a newly emerging middle income country, has recorded significant results as well as new risks caused by migration, urbanization, aging population, and pressure from increasing interaction with the global economy.

The country’s reforms haven’t been in par with economic changes. Vietnam’s geographic position has created advantages together with political pressure such as the East Sea issue.

A scholar makes recommendations to the report

UNDP Chief Representative in Vietnam, Pratibha Mehta, proposed some measures to reduce poverty and develop socio-economy, human resource, and labor market. She said the state is responsible for ensuring the poor and vulnerable people to access basic social services and reasonable income jobs.
