Government determined to achieve growth target
(VOVworld) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said on Tuesday that it is essential to take drastic measures to fulfill the growth target of 6.7 percent in 2016.

Concluding the government monthly meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Phuc reasserted that the Government will work to spur growth, uphold integrity and act to serve people. He asked the political system, sectors and agency to work with the Government to remove all hindrances for people and businesses: “Though it’s a difficult task to achieve a GDP growth rate of 6.7 percent, the government and the Prime Minister are determined to overcome all challenges to realize it. It’s necessary to make full use of all resources. We’ve seen positive signals over the past 7 months with the reimbursement rate among ministries and sectors increasing to 40 percent from 18 percent”.
In order to boost growth, Prime Minister Phuc asked ministries and sectors to work out specific plans to support businesses and people. The government will continue giving the top priority to safeguarding the macro-economy’s stability, along with managing inflation and maintaining economic growth. The Prime Minister asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to take measures to boost exports, control imports and fulfill industrial targets. Mr. Phuc stressed the need to develop the domestic market and promote the “Vietnamese prioritize Vietnamese goods” campaign. The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development is urged to promote agricultural production, aquaculture, and respond to climate change and floods to assure growth.
