(VOVworld) – Banks in Greece, which have been closed since June 29, will reopen Monday and allow depositors to withdraw 60 euros per day, said Greece's Deputy Finance Minister Dimitris Mardas on Thursday.

The announcement came after the European Central Bank (ECB) said it would increase emergency cash support for cash-strapped Greek banks.

In an announcement the same day, the Greek Finance Ministry said the banks would have to remain closed until Sunday to protect the financial system and prevent illiquidity in the economy.

The same day the Eurogroup of finance ministers agreed to start 'in principle' talks on a three-year bailout for Greece, its third rescue package.

The Eurogroup also agreed in theory to grant a 7 billion euro bridge loan to Greece. Details on this loan will be announced on Friday.
