It was a part of the leaders’ meeting of the Ha Long Bay-Cat Ba Alliance, organized by the IUCN, whose representatives proposed initiatives to boost business involvement in environmental protection. They updated the dossier prepared to re-nominate the extended Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba archipelago as world heritages, which will be submitted to UNESCO this year.

Secretary-General of the Vietnam National Commission for UNESCO Mai Phan Dung said: “Long-term planning is a must. We need to identify the main zones and buffer zones for  preservation. Environmental impacts and the capacity to welcome visitors should be considered in making policies to protect and promote heritages.”
