Hai Phong celebrates death anniversary of Xam singing founder

(VOVworld) – The Hai Phong Arts and Literature Union and the Folk Arts Association on Sunday commemorated the death anniversary of the founder of Xam singing, who is believed to be Tran Long Dinh of the Tran dynasty in the 13th century.

 Nguyen Duc Giang is Chairman of the Hai Phong Folk Arts Association: “A number of Xam singing clubs have been set up in Hai Phong to express gratitude to the founder and predecessors of Xam singing and to preserve the folk genre. We hope that Hai Phong authorities and the public would support our efforts.”

Xam singing is a popular folk art in northern Vietnam.
