Hanoi’s lawmakers discuss the revised Environmental Protection Law

(VOVworld) – National Assembly deputies of Hanoi on Thursday commented on the revised Environmental Protection Law. Their debates focused on a number of major issues, including the law’s enforcement scale and subjects, environmental protection plans, climate change response, and environmental protection in waste imports. They also discussed state management agencies’ responsibilities in environmental protection, and mechanisms to handle violations in this field.

Lawmakers agreed that it’s necessary to tighten management of waste imports to protect the environment through setting up technical barriers to control waste imports, thus avoiding making Vietnam the world’s dumping ground.
Most of the delegates agreed on adding more sanctions to the Law to prevent violations, while clearly regulating the responsibilities of state agencies in environmental protection.
