(VOVworld)- Ho Chi Minh City’s top leaders on Tuesday offered the traditional Tét cake to the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of the nation, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year.

The delegation of the local Party, People’s Council and Government is led by Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Dinh La Thang.

The offerings were chosen among the best and most delicious cakes in a recent Tét cake-making contest.

Tét cake, a round glutinous rice cake, is a traditional cake Vietnamese southerners enjoy during Tết. It is considered a variant of Chưng cake, the square glutinous rice cake, which is more popular in the northern region.

The Tét cake offering ceremony is one of HCM City’s annual pre- Tết activities, reflecting the tradition of “Drinking water remembering its source”.
