Helicopter crash in Russia, mine collapse in Turkey

(VOVworld) – At least two people were killed on Sunday when a Mi-8 helicopter crash-landed in north Russia’s Nenets Autonomous Area.

An unnamed spokesperson for the Interior Ministry’s regional department said there were seven people aboard - three crew members and four passengers. The Emergency Situations Ministry said earlier that six people were on board the chopper flying from Varandey to Naryan-Mar, the administrative center of Nenets. A search and rescue team has been dispatched to the scene, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.

The same day, Turkey’s Hurriyet daily news reported that one miner was killed and another survived the collapse of a chromium mine near the southern Turkish city of Osmaniye. The cause of the mine collapse has not yet to been determined.
