(VOV/VOVworld)- The City hall of Verrieres-le Buisson on the outskirts of Paris has organized a ceremony to mark the memorial house where a delegation of the provisional Vietnamese government stayed for the negotiation of the Paris agreement. In his address, Thomas Joly, Vice Mayor of Verrieres-le Buisson city recalled the history and emphasized that the house symbolized the aspiration for peace and solidarity between Vietnam and France. “Verrieres-le Buisson is proud to have contributed to ending the war in Vietnam and we are happy to post a memorial mark for this house to recall the history of the two nations. The house represents our common values. For Vietnamese people, it represents independence, freedom and happiness and for the French, it represents equality and humanity. We will keep these memories for our future generations", said the Vice Mayor.

Minister of the Vietnamese embassy in France Dinh Toan Thang emphasized the significance of this event and thanked French people for supporting Vietnam during the negotiation of the Paris agreement.

Several overseas Vietnamese people in France attended the event. Bui Son Tung, who has lived in France since 1967 says "I’m very moved to returned to the house, where the provisional Vietnamese government delegation led by Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh stayed for the negotiation of the Paris agreement. This was an important event showing that the French government considered the struggle of Vietnamese people was a just struggle and the independence and unification of Vietnam is undeniable".
