Ho Chi Minh city honors ethnic minority people

(VOVWORLD) - Ho Chi Minh City’s authority met with 200 outstanding ethnic minority people at a gathering on Tuesday, praising their contributions to local development. 

The city’s leaders pledged more incentives on ethnic issues. Ysa Umo, a religious dignitary of the Cham community in Ho Chi Minh city said the Cham will do their utmost to contribute to the city’s growth.

"I hope the local Cham community and the local authority will continue to join efforts in building a more modern and civilized city, where all people live happily," Mr Umo added. 

Ho Chi Minh city is home to 440,000 ethnic people from 51 minority groups, mostly Khmer, Cham, and Hoa.
