Ho Chi Minh City launches Green Summer Campaign 2017

(VOVWORLD) -The Youth Union in Ho Chi Minh City Sunday kicked off the 24th Green Summer Campaign themed “Volunteers join hands to build urban civilization and new rural development".

The Campaign has attracted the participation of 60,000 young people, union members and students, who will contribute 2 million working days. They will involve in establishing a civilized urban lifestyle, environmental protection, and response to climate change.  Other activities include paying debts of gratitude, ensuring social security; and contributing to new rural development. Volunteers from Xieng Khuang province of Laos, Malaysia and Thailand also joined this year’s Green Summer Campaign. Pham Kieu Hung, Permanent Vice Chairman of the HCM City Students Association said: “The motto of the Green Summer Campaign is to help volunteers train, make contributions, and grow up. Through this campaign, volunteers will help improve lives in areas where they do voluntary work.”

This year's Ho Chi Minh City Green Summer Campaign will also cover Tho Chu Island, and localities in Laos and Cambodia. The campaign will end on August 13th.
