Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Director of the Department, and the books’ chief compiler, said the textbooks contain detailed information about the city's seafaring history, its development periods, island districts, and the Hoang Sa Islands.

He noted:“We’re in the final phase of compilation - lay-out, licensing, and printing. Like other school books published  by the Vietnam Education Publishing House, students can buy these books as reference materials. We hope that by the end of this month or early next month, schools can start using them in their curricula.”

About 100,000 two-volume copies will be printed and distributed to the schools.
