Hong Kong ranks as freest economy in the world

(VOVworld) - Hong Kong has maintained its position as the world's freest economy in the 2017 Index of Economic Freedom from the US-based Heritage Foundation with overall score of 89.8 points up by 1.2 points over the year before. Singapore continues to rank second with 88.6 points, up by 0.8 of a point against the last year’s figure, followed by New Zealand, Switzerland, and Australia.

On a list of 12 specific categories, Hong Kong got 8 categories with the high score of above 90, and got the first place on the fiscal health, trade freedom, and financial freedom in the vote among  180 countries. This is the 23rd consecutive time Hong Kong is rated as the world's freest economy by the Heritage Foundation.
