Hue marks old royal ceremony for people’s prosperity

(VOVworld) – The Hue Relics Preservation Center on Tuesday re-enacted a ceremony called Xa Tac (Nation) to preserve traditional royal rituals and honor Vietnamese culture. The ritual used to be a national celebration held under the Nguyen dynasty in the former royal capital city of Hue to pray for all people’s prosperity. A formal procession of the King and mandarins traveled from the Palace to the Xa Tac stage.

Director of the Hue Relics Preservation Center Phan Thanh Hai said: Re-enacting the Xa Tac ceremony helps people better understand Hue’s traditional royal rituals and deep culture. Hue is thought to have great potential for tourism and the service sector and is also a key point of our cultural preservation plan.

The ceremony has been performed periodically since the Hue Festival in 2008. It reflects features of Vietnam’s wet rice cultivation.
