Hundreds of Palestinians casualties reported during protests in Gaza

(VOVWORLD) - Four Palestinians were killed and 316 others were injured during clashes on Saturday with Israeli security forces in Eastern Gaza, which borders Israel, Health Agency in Gaza said.

The clash occurred after tens of thousands of people demonstrated in the Gaza Strip to mark the first anniversary of the “Great March of Return”. Five rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into Israel early Sunday, the Israeli military announced.

The UN called for preventing Israeli security forces from continued violence against the Palestinians. UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Jamie McGoldrick, said the priority now is to save lives and everyone needs to take action accordingly. He urged Israeli security forces to ensure that their responses are in line with their international legal obligations, using non-violent means to the greatest extent possible.
