Hung Kings' Temple festival kicks off

(VOVworld) - A solemn incense-offering ceremony to commemorate the Hung Kings will be held at the Hung Kings’ Temple in Phu Tho province on Tuesday with the participation of leaders of the Party, State, Vietnam Fatherland Front, and provinces.

The ritual will have an army ceremonial team carrying the national flag and wreath with a banner “Forever remembering the Hung Kings who founded the nation”, young girls in traditional dress carrying offerings, and a group of 100 people representing the children of Mother Au Co and Father Lac Long Quan. The ceremony will be broadcast live on VOV’s National Assembly TV Channel.

The incense-offering ceremony is the center of the Hung Kings’ temple festival from April 23-28 in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho province. The same day, temples nationwide dedicated to the Hung Kings and Generals of the Hung Kings also commemorate the Hung Kings’ death anniversary.

The Hung Kings’ temple festival is co-organized by Phu Tho, Son La, Phu Yen, Dac Nong, Tien Giang, and Bac Lieu provinces. The festival will include a fair of the Northwestern region, an exhibition of offerings from localities to the Hung Temple, a contest on making glutinous rice cakes, Xoan singing, and the issuance of postal stamps featuring the Hung Kings’ worship, a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
