Hungary sees Vietnam as most important partner in Southeast Asia

(VOVWORLD) -Vietnam-Hungary cooperation is expected to be taken up a notch following the signing of a memorandum of understanding in Budapest on Wednesday between Truong Thi Mai, Head of the Party Central Committee’s Mass Mobilisation Commission, and Gergely Gulyas, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary and Vice President of the Hungarian Civic Alliance (Fidesz).

Under the MoU, the two sides will hold meetings to consult each other and share information on Vietnamese and Hungarian situations, on experience in Party building and youth policies, and other fields of shared concern. Mai affirmed that the Vietnamese Party, Government, National Assembly and people always want to strengthen ties with political parties, including the Fidesz, and the State, parliament and people of Hungary.

Meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister of Trade Szijjarto Peter, the host said Hungary considers Vietnam the most important partner in Southeast Asia. The upcoming Vietnam visit by the Hungarian Prime Minister later this month will provide new impetus for bilateral economic-trade links. The two sides discussed the East Sea issue, relations between Hungary and the EU, and Hungary’s stance on immigration.
