India treasures defense ties with Vietnam

(VOVworld) - Defence Minister General Ngo Xuan Lich met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday as part of his visit to India, which concluded on Wednesday. Prime Minister Modi told his guest that the visit positively contributed to strengthening India-Vietnam ties including defense cooperation. He said that India, a close friend of Vietnam, considers Vietnam as a top priority in its “Act East” policy.

Mr. Modi said India will continue forging closer ties with Vietnam in five major areas, including defense, to match their cooperation potential and deepen their comprehensive partnership.

General Lich thanked the Government and people of India for their support to Vietnam during the struggle for independence and for the cause of national defence and construction.

He briefed his host on the outcomes of defense cooperation between the two countries, lauding the support of the Indian Government and PM Modi allowing for the two De fence Ministries to foster their cooperation.

During his stay, General Lich met with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Kumar Doval. He also visited the Information Management and Analysis Center (IMAC) of India, and the Indian Air Force High Command.

There were a number of bilateral meetings between defense officials of Vietnam and India.
