Indonesia police arrest 6 suspects allegedly planning Singapore attack

(VOVworld) – Indonesia’s national police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said the 6 suspects arrested last week on Batam Island were part of an extremist group which has been active for two years.

He told reporters in Jakarta on Monday that the group mostly recruited members online and took instructions from Bahrun Naim, an Indonesian who joined the Islamic State (IS) in Syria.

On Saturday, Indonesia’s counter-terrorism officers rounded up 6 men planning a rocket attack on Singapore after tracking them for months on social media. The police seized numerous weapons and bomb-making materials from suspects' homes.
