(VOVworld) – The US is concerned about additional Chinese oil rigs being deployed in the East Sea, said US State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki at a press conference in Washington on Friday.  Psaki said the US doesn’t have enough information about the rigs’ placement and so would withhold judgment. But she said it would be a matter of concern if a rig were placed in disputed waters, adding that the US has a national interest in the maintenance of peace and stability in the region. Following talks in Washington, US President Barack Obama and New Zealand’s Prime Minister John Key urged China and other parties involved to resolve any dispute peacefully and avoid causing further tension.
