Iran confirms South Korea’s halt of oil imports

(VOVWORLD) - South Korea has bought no Iranian crude oil for about 3 months since the re-imposition of US sanctions on Tehran, Iran's Ministry of Petroleum confirmed on Sunday.

Iranian news agency SHANA quoted Kasra Nouri, the Ministry’s public relations manager, as saying South Korea was the first country to completely cut off oil imports from Iran following the unilateral US sanctions. Prior to the US sanctions, Seoul imported 180,000 barrels per day of Iran's crude oil, SHANA said.

Another round of sanctions, beginning on November 5, will be imposed on Iran's ports, energy, shipping, shipbuilding sector, petroleum sales, and business deals by foreign financial institutions with Iran’s Central Bank.
