Iraq hunts down IS militants

(VOVWORLD) -Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi Thursday ordered operations to hunt down Islamic State militants in central Iraq after recent attacks and abductions carried out by the terrorist group.

Al-Abadi tasked the elite forces of the Counter Terrorism Service with operations against the terrorist group, which has killed or kidnapped dozens of civilians and security members in the past few weeks.
He also ordered the immediate execution of all convicted ISIS militants on death row. More than 300 people, including 100 foreign women, have been condemned to death in Iraq and hundreds of others to life imprisonment for membership in ISIS, a judicial source said. Most of the convicted women are Turkish or from former Soviet republics. A Russian man and a Belgian national are also on death row.
