(VOVworld) - The Islamic State (IS) has executed 20 people who wanted to fight against them in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk, Iraqi officials said Monday. The killings took place in the town of Hawijah and the victims were who wanted to join anti-IS paramilitary forces known as Popular Mobilisation units.

The same day, the Libyan military confirmed the IS beheading of eight guards in an attack in the al-Ghani oil field. Arab League chief Nabil al-Arabi called for the creation of a unified Arab force to battle the spread of Islamic extremist groups.
