(VOVworld) – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted Monday for the first time that Israel has attacked dozens of convoys transporting weapons destined for Hezbollah in Syria.

During a visit to an Israel Defense Forces exercise in the Golan Heights, Netanyahu said Israel will strike when necessary to prevent Hezbollah from obtaining weapons. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has threatened to attack Israel’s nuclear and chemical facilities. Several sources confirm that Israel has launched multiple air strikes in Syria and Lebanon targeting the transfer of arms to Hezbollah. Israel has never before admitted carrying out these attacks, but has said it would prevent Hezbollah from obtaining weapons that could alter the balance of power.
