(VOVworld) - Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Tuesday conducted a large-scale military exercise near the Gaza strip. The exercise was led by the IDF’s Gaza Division, which tested the army's preparedness for a sudden attack in which Gaza gunmen on motorcycles infiltrate Israel through cross-border tunnels and storm communities in southern Israel. The military exercise took place in the context of a frozen Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

The Israeli side wants direct negotiations between the two sides, while the Palestinians wants support from the international community to end Israel’s occupation.
