Japan, India strengthen economic, counter-terrorism cooperation

(VOVworld) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi have discussed ways to boost cooperation on economics, counterterrorism, and regional issues.

At their meeting in Laos on Wednesday, the two leaders exchanged views on economic cooperation and the promotion of personnel exchanges. They recognized the potential for cooperation considering Japan’s technological capability and India’s young workforce and large markets.

Abe said he wished to enhance bilateral coordination on counterterrorism. He explained Japan’s diplomatic strategy which aims to promote freedom and openness in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. Modi responded that he wanted to work with Japan to realize that vision.
