Japan initiates final phase of project to secure Fukushima area

(VOVWORLD) - At Japan’s Fukushima No. 1 nuclear complex, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) has initiated the final phase of a post-Fukushima project to extend an underground ice wall to prevent radioactive water from leaking into the sea.

The coolant-filled wall is designed to prevent groundwater from seeping into the facilities and coming into contact with nuclear fuel or mixing with radioactive water inside the reactor building.
