Japan, US conduct new trade talks

(VOVWORLD) - Japan and the United States are approaching the “final stage” of talks on a bilateral trade deal, Japan’s trade negotiator Toshimitsu Motegi said Wednesday in Washington.

The economic  minister started the latest round of ministerial trade talks with US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer earlier in the day, and the negotiations are scheduled to continue for at least two days.

Based on the results of the meeting in Washington, Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo and US President Donald Trump are expected to discuss the matter at a bilateral meeting expected to be held on the sidelines of a three-day G7 summit in France beginning Saturday.
