Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio

In an interview with the Vietnamese News Agency prior to President Tran Dai Quang’s visit to Japan from May 29 to June 2, Kunio said Vietnam and Japan will organize more than 100 programs to mark the 45^th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties this year. President Tran Dai Quang’s visit to Japan is the most important event.

The ambassador said bilateral cooperation in politics and maritime security has been enhanced. Vietnam supports Japan to implement “The Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy” and both countries will expand cooperation relating to the Strategy.

President Tran Dai Quang will attend a large-scale investment conference in Tokyo engaging many Vietnamese and Japanese businesses. Japan wants to work with Vietnam in high-tech infrastructure and human resource training to facilitate Vietnam’s administrative and financial reform.
