Japanese expert hails Vietnam’s role in Mekong-Japan cooperation

(VOVWORLD) - Professor Ryo Ikebe from the Senshu University of Japan wrote an article on Vietnam’s role in the Mekong-Japan cooperation.

He said Vietnam, lying in the downstream of the Mekong river, has actively involved in many cooperative mechanisms in the Mekong Sub-region, including the Mekong-Japan cooperation.

Vietnam has participated in the “A Decade Toward the Green Mekong” Initiative and collaborated ASEAN-Japan diplomatic relations in 2018. Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc will attend the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit to be held in Tokyo next Tuesday.

The Mekong Sub-region consists of Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar. It is expected to become the production and consumption hub of ASEAN and an important link of the global value chain.
