Joint declaration on strengthening Vietnam-Cambodia friendship, cooperation

(VOVWORLD) -Following the State visit by Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to Cambodia from July 20 to 22, Vietnam and Cambodia have issued a joint declaration pledging to promote long term and practical bilateral ties.

Both agreed to boost political relations and exchanges of visit by their leaders while accelerating education and communications on the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, especially for younger generation. They agreed to prioritize connectivity in transport infrastructure, energy, tourism and agricultural market. Both will enhance defense and security cooperation, not allowing any political and military forces to use one’s territory to threaten security of the other, while dealing with emerging issues by peaceful means for mutual benefit.  

Both sides praised efforts the Joint Committee on Land Border Demarcation for completing 84% of the work on the basis the agreements reached by the two countries. They repeated their respect for and full implementation of deals on border delineation and related treaties.

Vietnam and Cambodia agreed to coordinate closely at regional and global forums to boost peace, security, stability, cooperation, and development. They committed to working together within the ASEAN-China framework, fully and effectively implementing the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) and promptly finalizing the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (COC).
