(VOVworld) – On Wednesday, Thai police confirmed the nationality of the key suspect of the Erawan Shrine bombing last month, Meiraili Yusufu, as Chinese.

His passport was found to be genuine, after investigations into its authenticity, said Thai police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri during a press conference. However, the travel document belonging to another suspect, who introduced himself to police as Adem Karadak from Turkey, was a counterfeit.

Earlier, police took Meiraili to the scene of the explosion at Bangkok’s Erawan shrine and to Hua Lampong station to reconstruct the crime scene.

The police spokesman said the reconstruction provided a clearer picture to investigators and helped to support the ongoing investigation.
