King-monk Tran Nhan Tong, Truc Lam Zen sect’s ideological values discussed

(VOVWORLD) - Cultural and philosophical uniqueness of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong and the Truc Lam Buddhist sect, which he himself founded, were discussed at an international conference in Quang Ninh province on Thursday.

The event, marking the 760th birth and 710th death anniversaries of Tran Nhan Tong, drew the participation of scholars from the US, Russia, China, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan (China), Thailand, and Mongolia.

Associate Professor, Doctor Nguyen Kim Son, Director of the National University – Hanoi and Head of the Tran Nhan Tong Institute, said: “The conference has delved into the ideology of King-monk Tran Nhan Tong in life and its tangible and intangible values inside and outside the country. We study his philosophy for current and future generations and will continue to promote his merits and teachings.”

Aside from this conference, participants will attend a grand ceremony marking 710 years since Tran Nhan Tong’s Nirvana attainment. The celebration will be held at Truc Lam Palace, part of the Yen Tu relic site in Uong Bi city of Quang Ninh, on Friday.
