(VOVWORLD) -The ministers of labor and public health have pledged to improve their sector’s performance in 2018.

In an interview with reporters on the occasion of the lunar new year, Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Dao Ngoc Dung said his ministry will continue to fine-tune legislation, revise the Labor Code, and devise salary reform and social insurance projects. Vocational education will be strengthened and social security will be ensured, he added.

Meanwhile, Health Minister Nguyen Thi Kim Tien promised to take the quality of medical services up a notch or two and promote total patient care to win the trust of the public. The operation of hospitals will be judged in accordance with 83 quality criteria issued by the Health Ministry to define shortcomings and weaknesses. Minister Tien said she is confident that Vietnam’s health services will improve remarkably this year.
