Leader Fidel Castro in Vietnamese people’s hearts

(VOVworld) – For decades, Vietnamese people have seen Cuban leader Fidel Castro as a symbol of revolutionary heroism, staunch spirit, and aspiration for freedom and happiness. Fidel Castro’s death left deep condolences on Vietnamese people. Vice Chairman of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, Nguyen Duy Cuong, said: “I was very sad to learn about his death. On behalf of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association, I’d like to extend our condolences to the Cuban people. The Association will continue to enhance solidarity with Cuba. On Voice of Vietnam, I’d like to express my sincere feeling to all Cuban friends for the loss of our dearest relative.”

The Cuban Embassy has received people to come to mourn Fidel Castro since November 28. Many of people have come to show respect for the outstanding leader of Cuba’s revolution. VOV’s Vice President Nguyen Xuan Huy led a delegation to pay tribute to the Cuban leader. Mr. Huy wrote in the condolence book that VOV always honors Fidel Castro and other Cuban leaders and people for their support to VOV to expand its broadcast in Cuba.

Dang Ngoc Tuan in Hanoi said he has never come to Cuba but Fidel Castro is a familiar name to him: “I’m very moved. Our generation went through wars and hardships in the struggles for national liberation. We knew about leader Fidel Castro’s support for Vietnam. He is the best friend of the Vietnamese people. Cuba is a small country but Cuban people are brave and heroic. Vietnam and Cuba have maintained a loyal and honest friendship.”

Dang Trung Hieu, a student from Hanoi National University, says: “Learning about Fidel Castro’s death, I was very sad. I come here to pay tribute to him. I hope that young people like me will continue to nurture the Vietnam-Cuba relationship.”

The loyal relationship between Vietnam is rare as the two countries are half of the globe away and don’t have much geopolitical connection. The Vietnamese people love leader Fidel Castro as much as the Cuban people love President Ho Chi Minh. Several decades have passed, the bilateral friendship remains firm. In recent years, Vietnamese leaders have always arranged to visit leader Fidel Castro during their visits to Cuba. In November, President Tran Dai Quang visited Fidel Castro. President Quang was the last foreign state leader to visit Fidel Castro.
