Mr. Dung said: “It is essential to improve urban planning. Inappropriate plans should be removed. We need a mechanism for choosing capable and experienced planning consultants. Planning information should be reviewed, updated, and made public for feedback”.

Deputy Prime Minister Dung talked about social housing policy: “Planning should implement the national housing strategy and focus on developing social housing to meet the growing demand of social beneficiaries and low-income families. This is a key factor in effective land use and maintains a stable real estate market”.

Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The responded to questions about transportation infrastructure, transportation management, driver training and licensing; automated toll collection on highways, and traffic safety.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan asked the government and the Minister of Transport to fully absorb deputies’ comments and ensure long-term efficiency in transport sector. She said: “We need to review and fine-tune transport regulations in line with reality and in compliance with the Law on Master Planning. Transport development has to create breakthrough in regional network linkages and multimodal transport between urban and rural areas. Congestion in big cities has to be tackled.”

Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung told deputies that major projects including the North-South Express Way, and expansion of Tan Son Nhat International Airport should be accelerated.
