(VOVworld) – The Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Can Tho city jointly held a meeting to commend prominent revolutionary contributors in Can Thi city on Saturday.

Attendants were Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, leaders of ministries and localities and 299 delegates who are war invalids, relatives of martyrs and other revolutionary contributors. Delegates were told emotional stories about those who rendered great service to the nation during war time and are now surpassing challenges to stabilize their lives and become well-off. In Vietnam, there is a total of 8.8 million people recognized as revolutionary contributors, accounting for 10% of the population. More than 1.4 million of them are provided with monthly allowances. Tens of thousands of former young volunteers are also entitled to the State’s preferential policies.
