Mexico announces 2015 mid-term election results

(VOVworld) – Mexico’s National Electoral Institute (NEI) officially declared the results of last Sunday’s midterm elections to elect 500 legislators, nine governors, and 1,500 local mayors.

The ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) led the counting with more than 11.6 million votes, followed by the National Action Party (PAN) of 8.3 million votes, and the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), 4.3 million votes.

According to the Institute, the 2015 mid-term elections took place peacefully affirming Mexico is a multi-party country with democracy to be further consolidated.
