Mexico, Colombia sign cooperation agreements

(VOVworld) – Representatives of the Mexican and Colombia governments on Thursday signed 9 cooperation agreements during an official visit to Colombia by Mexico’s President Enrique Pena Nieto. The agreements cover foreign trade enhancement, consumer protection policies, technical cooperation on land policies, cultural and historic heritage preservation, the environment, and sustainable development.

At an earlier meeting with Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos, President Nieto emphasized the need to further boost trade through regulation reform. Nieto said he supports the peace process in Colombia and expressed his commitment to work with Colombia in economy, trade, technology, education, sports, culture, tourism, security, and the fight against organized and transnational crime.

President Santos praised Mexico’s contributions, supports, and commitments to Colombia’s peace process by joining the UN Special Political Mission and Global Demining Initiative.
