MH17 crash: 5 nations to sponsor prosecution procedure

(VOVWORLD) - The Netherlands, Malaysia, Australia, Belgium, and Ukraine, members of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), will soon sign a memorandum to sponsor the prosecution of whoever caused the crash of Malaysia’s flight MH17 in 2014.

The JIT chose the Netherlands’ legal system to prosecute the case.

Flight MH17, en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur carrying 298 people, was shot down in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. The JIT reported two years later that the flight was brought down by a Russian-made Buk missile fired from a region in the east of Ukraine controlled by the separatists.
