(VOVworld) – The Ministry of National Defense held a seminar on the role of Vietnam’s militia in armed uprisings in Hanoi on Tuesday.

Delegates agreed that Vietnamese militia and guerilla forces had been an important element in the victorious 1945 August Revolution, the two national wars of resistance, and in national development and defense. Major General Nguyen Duy Nguyen, Head of the Militia General Department, said: “Vietnam’s militia has proved to be an important revolutionary force and a vital tool of the Party and state. Generations of Vietnamese militants have contributed significantly to Vietnam’s national defense.”
