A launch ceremony will take place in Hanoi this Sunday. Nguyen Trong Dam, Deputy Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, said the month is co-sponsored by the Ministry in collaboration with the UN in Vietnam and the Hanoi People’s Committee.

“A total of 52 domestic and foreign agencies and organizations have registered to hold 30 activities in response to the action month. Two provinces and a ministry have already begun activities. We hope that the campaign will have a strong effect on people from all walks of life, contributing to the fight against domestic violence and violence against women and girls, with the aim of building an equitable, progressive, and developed society,” said Dam.

2016 is the first year of Action month for gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence in Vietnam, which aims to mobilize agencies, organizations, and the community, especially men, in ensuring gender equality and eliminating violence against women and girls.
