(VOVworld) – National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan successfully concluded her official visits to Sweden, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. The tour aimed to strengthen Vietnam’s relations with these countries in economics, trade, investment, education, and environment, lobby their parliaments to ratify the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement, and enhance parliamentary cooperation.
Head of the National Assembly’s External Relations Committee, Nguyen Van Giau, talked about Ms. Ngan’s visit to Sweden.“The two top legislative leaders and other officials agreed that bilateral economic relations have been below potential. High-ranking Swedish leaders acknowledged Vietnam’s socio-economic successes in the past 2 decades.”

Mr. Giau commented on a discussion on improving legislation in the international integration process during Ms. Ngan’s visit to Hungary: “The topic was very interesting. Hungarian experts delivered presentations on economic development strategies, improving the economy’s competitiveness, and tax policy to boost growth. Hungary’s policy adjustments have helped reduce budget overspending from 5.5% in 2011 to 2% in 2016. It’s impressive.”

The Czech Republic was the final leg in Ms. Ngan’s tour of three European countries. Mr. Giau said: “The Czech President hoped Vietnam and Czech economic cooperation will further develop to benefit their people. He said high-ranking Czech delegations visiting Vietnam in the future should be accompanied by businesses to seek partnership. The President will visit Vietnam in June and his enteoruage will include major business leaders.”
