National ASEAN 2020 Committee makes debut
(VOVWORLD) - The National ASEAN 2020 committee, tasked with making preparations for Vietnam to shoulder the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2020, made debut in Hanoi on Monday.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Quoc Dung was appointed as the Committee’s Secretary General.
Speaking at the 1st session of the Committee, Dung said Vietnam’s ASEAN 2020 Chairmanship begins January 1, 2020. He said Vietnam’s responsibility is promoting the ASEAN Community and increasing trust and ASEAN’s role in the region. He added this is an opportunity for Vietnam to prove its ability to lead the ASEAN Community and promote its image to the world.
