National Assembly Chairwoman receives UNESCO Director General

(VOVWORLD) -National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to a more proactive contribution to UNESCO.

At a reception for UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova in Hanoi on Friday, Ms. Ngan said that Vietnam has pursued a stance of being a reliable friend and partner and a responsible member of the international community. She also praised Bokova’s role in UNESCO, which she said has helped the organization overcome challenges and undertake reform to improve its operational efficiency and global influence.  

Ms. Bokova applauded Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, the development of UNESCO-recognized cultural heritages, and gender equality improvement. She also praised the Vietnamese National Assembly for revising laws on gender equality and sustainable development.
