(VOVworld) - The 9th national Phu Dong Sports Festival opened in Nghe An province on Monday.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, and provincial officials attended the event.

Mr. Dam underscored the importance of the Phu Dong Sports Festival, which encourages students nationwide to take part in physical exercise.

4,000 athletes from 63 provinces and cities across Vietnam are taking part in this year’s sports festival, which will close next Wednesday.
