Ninh Thuan’s Cham people celebrate Kate festival
(VOVworld) – On Sunday Cham ethnic minority people in Ninh Thuan province held a procession of goddess Po Nugar’s dress to open the 2015 Kate festival. Kate is a time-honored festival of the Cham people in Ninh Thuan province to pray for good weather and bumper crops. Cham people, no matter where they work or reside, return home to celebrate this festival. They prepare traditional dishes and cakes as offerings to goddess Po Nugar and their ancestors.
The Kate festival often takes place on October 12th

The Kate festival takes place simultaneously at Po Inu Nagar Temple, Po Klong Garai Tower, and Po Rome Tower. During the festival, Cham people take time off from work and spend several days visiting each other to foster their relationships.
