A spokesperson for North Korea’s Foreign Ministry was quoted by the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) as saying Pyongyang categorically rejected this as an intolerable act of encroachment upon its dignity, right to existence, sovereignty, and self-defence. The spokesperson added that North Korea would continue to strengthen its nuclear capacity.

Also that day, through a press release, the UN Security Council condemned Pyongyang’s recent test-fires of three ballistic missiles.

The US Department of State announced on Wednesday that the Special envoy for North Korea, Sung Kim, will travel to Japan and the Republic of Korea on September 10-13 for meetings with his counterparts and other senior officials in the wake of Pyongyang’s latest missile launches.
